To Keep Writing When Stopped

Day 12 Wordcount: 824 (Glint of an Artifact, Short Story #3)

Really got bogged down, and not just because I’m running a temperature.

A scene just wasn’t coming together. It was stopping me from moving forward even though I could envision what would happen next. I just had to get to it.

So, I made a few notes of the few things that had to happen, and then typed in all caps “INSERT SCHOOL MEETING” and moved on.

And it worked. Wrote 500 words in less than 20 minutes.

I’ll go back and fill it in later, once I feel my way through the rest of the story. Meanwhile, we’ll see if the Muse throws something else at me at an inconvenient time. As I’ve mentioned before, she’s really good at that. 😉

The challenge in question is the Forward Motion May “Story-A- Day” challenge. See my previous post about the rules. The goal is to achieve the 10 short story level.
